Sponsorship is not the same as a visa guarantee
A sponsored vacancy means an employer may support an eligible worker under a country’s immigration route. The applicant must still meet the role, salary, qualification, language and immigration requirements. No recruiter can guarantee approval.
Start with official immigration information
Rules change, so use the destination government’s website before relying on social-media advice. For the United Kingdom, review the Skilled Worker requirements and the official register of licensed sponsors. For Canada, use the government Job Bank guidance for foreign candidates and official immigration pages.
Search by occupation and eligibility
- Confirm that the occupation can qualify under the relevant route.
- Check whether the employer is authorised to sponsor workers.
- Read salary, qualification and language requirements carefully.
- Confirm whether the vacancy explicitly welcomes overseas applicants.
Understand legitimate costs
Some immigration processes have official government fees, but these should be verified directly on the government website. A request to pay a personal account, buy a guaranteed sponsorship certificate or pay for a job offer is a serious warning sign.
Verify before resigning or travelling
- Request a written offer and contract with clear duties and salary.
- Verify the employer through official records and independent contact details.
- Do not surrender original documents to an unverified intermediary.
- Check accommodation, deductions and repayment clauses carefully.
- Seek qualified immigration advice when the route is complex.
