Role summary The Bartender provides courteous, professional, efficient and flexible food-and-beverage service, supports sales and delivers a consistently high level of guest satisfaction across the assigned outlet. Key responsibilities • Report punctually in the correct uniform and maintain Kempinski grooming, appearance and hygiene standards. • Deliver professional service and complete all assigned outlet duties and opening and closing procedures. • Maintain detailed knowledge of hotel services and all food and beverage items. • Explain, recommend and upsell beverages while offering suitable alternatives to guests. • Prepare classic cocktails, standard long drinks, coffee and espresso to the required standard. • Stay informed about cocktail trends, spirits, liqueurs, ingredients and preparation methods. • Develop appropriate drink recommendations and new recipes based on guest requests. • Control beverage stocks, support inventories, prepare efficient cocktail costings and minimise spoilage and waste. • Operate the point-of-sale system and complete cashiering and end-of-shift duties accurately. • Keep the bar, equipment and surrounding areas clean, safe and organised. • Handle enquiries professionally and report and follow up guest complaints with supervisors. • Follow hotel policies covering fire safety, hygiene, health and safety, beverage standards and conduct. • Support team communication, training and service leadership when managers are absent. Candidate profile • At least three years of experience in a food-and-beverage service role. • Strong knowledge of cocktails, spirits, liqueurs, wine and current beverage trends. • Ability to work as a barista, including preparing coffee and espresso. • Excellent verbal and written communication, organisation and time-management skills. • Able to work effectively in a team, perform under pressure and propose practical solutions. • Professional, confidential, ethical, safety-conscious and capable of building effective working relationships. • Able to use computers and office equipment, with proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
